{"id":1829,"date":"2019-10-28T09:32:42","date_gmt":"2019-10-28T09:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thailandstory.info\/?p=1829"},"modified":"2019-10-28T09:32:42","modified_gmt":"2019-10-28T09:32:42","slug":"sig-wins-2019-thailand-energy-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thailandstory.info\/?p=1829","title":{"rendered":"SIG wins 2019 Thailand Energy Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>SIG wins 2019 Thailand Energy Award  for its solar rooftop in Rayong<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SIG Combibloc, a leading systems and solutions provider for aseptic packaging and the first company to manufacture aseptic carton packaging in Thailand, won the 2019 Thailand Energy Award : \u201cGlobal-Warming Reduction Label\u201d for its commitment to the environment  and society. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The award for its 3.3-MWp (megawatt peak) SIG Solar Rooftop was granted by the Energy Ministry\u2019s Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency and came under the category of Off-Grid alternative power. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solar rooftop project in its manufacturing plant in Rayong province was kicked off in March 2018 and was in operation in July of the same year.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i><a href=\"https:\/\/thailandstory.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1572253574977.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1831\" src=\"https:\/\/thailandstory.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/1572253574977.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Lawrence Fok, President and General Manager Asia-Pacific at SIG, said:<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe company is very proud of receiving this award. Our policy has always been to manufacture packaging that is environmentally friendly, as our vision is to take significant steps to reduce greenhouse gas. The solar rooftop can produce up to                                    3.3 MWp electricity, able to cover the whole electrical consumption operation of Rayong\u2019s plant in the most efficient way.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solar rooftop system, with more than 9,000 solar panels occupy 18,000 square meters, also helps reduce more than 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide emission annually, which is one of the key greenhouse gases contributing to climate change. The solar rooftop cuts down on the use of on-grid electricity during peak hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its efforts to community development, SIG Combibloc Thailand has gone one step further by installing 7-KWp (kilowatt peak) solar-power systems at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nikhom Sang Ton Eng Changwat Rayong 10<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which cuts school\u2019s electricity cost by an average of more than 4,000 baht per month. The aim is to raise awareness as well as educate school personnel, students and members of the community to learn the efficient use of electricity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SIG commits to operate in the most environmentally friendly practices by ensuring our facilities follow sustainable and responsible good manufacturing practices.
