Mr. Sutep Punthupeng, Chief Executive Officer of SRTET, revealed that the Ministry of Transport has ordered every line agency to integrate their efforts and cooperate in readying security measures in order to support commuters during the APEC 2022 meetings, which will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, from 16-18 November 2022.
On this issue, SRTET has prepared necessary measures and protocols such as increasing security checks at every station, especially the connecting station with Don Mueang International Airport, as well as nearby sites and blind spots. In addition, security officers have been instructed to check those who appear inebriated, monitor the CCTV system, and conduct a detailed check for prohibited items, such as weapons, sharp items, balloons, and flammable objects.
Moreover, security officers have been instructed to look out for suspicious objects, such as bags, parcels, or luggages that have been left standing, as well as outsiders who come inside the operation areas. SRTET has also assigned security patrol teams that will be on duty in the area during 16-18 November 2022. These teams include a representative from SRTET, a security officer, a representative of the Don Mueang Police Station, and military working dogs.
